strive's celestial promotion system is one of the most poorly designed "ranked mode" structures ever
it means literally nothing because it's just a lottery system to get in. but hey, i made it i guess

i stopped playing ranked a long time ago because i was getting too salty about it, but i'm curious, what makes it a lottery system?
the way promotions work is you have to win 5 games out of 6. so if you lose twice you get kicked out. you get three games per person. and you can play anyone on the floor. if you match against someone that happens to be good, they can SINGLEHANDEDLY kick you out of your promos
so basically the lottery here is the random draw of who's on the floor. do you happen to match against a god gamer evo pro? promos immediately failed. oops! do you do what i did and just beat up a may who was playing in the tower for the first time and only in celestial because they got into celestial with a different character? congrats! you got in
not exactly a system for "earning it" lol
yeahhhhhhhhhhh its....bad
and this is even ignoring the fact that it actually incentivizes you to hang around and wait for lower-level people to come in and try to target them specifically for matches, and also leave matches early/not rematch if you think theyre too good. it suuucks
yeah. i really enjoy park matches where i can thoughtlessly bang my head against the same high level anji for like 45 minutes if they're willing so i can try to figure out what to do differently, because there's no consequence aside from losing, but it's a lot harder to find closer-matched players in that sort of space. i want both, why not both?
