im a whole ass machine learning engineer and linguist and yet i still have to google what the difference between precision and recall is. every. single. time. i will never ever remember which is which

yeah the mnemonic I use is "recall is 'how many of the items matching the classification can the classifier recall', and precision is 'the other one'"
it's not a very good mnemonic
uhhh ummm precision is precisely the amount that uh. if youll recall. the truth of. positives. the negative truths are. precise
