dude this movie slammed! one of those i heard about for years and never got around to it because it has this reputation as an Important Racism Movie, which is not always a reputation that mainstream american film culture applies with care. you never know when you're gonna walk headfirst into a crash (2005) or whatever. had nothing to fear though because this movie was absolutely fucking fantastic. can't recommend enough.

here's the most important thing: sidney poitier in this film is impossibly cool. top tier of insanely cool guys in cinema. joining the likes of tony leung infernal affairs, from dusk til dawn george clooney, yojimbo toshiro mifune. electric energy, the two hours fly by.

also it looks incredible. there was one shot, just a completely nondescript shot of a cop in a car, not even a main character, that i was like fuck man how did they do that. i miss being able to get that from movies in simple ways before cameras could be digitally controlled and that feeling went away. you watch a movie from the 60s and it knocks you on your feet when a shot tracks evenly with a car when you didnt realise it wasn't even on a tripod.

i dunno why i'm chosting like it's letterboxd. better than posting on letterboxd like it's letterboxd i guess. got really self aware and anxiolus that i need to capital P Post but i dont have any content in me! i'm just watching movies and enjoying them. thats the life :)
