Gourry in the Magical Girl AU that I haven't drawn anything for since 2022! Whoops, sorry, I was busy with babygirlifying Rezo.
Anywho, Gourry in this AU is only slightly older than Lina- still high school age- but doesn't go to school. Instead he supports himself through a wide variety of part time jobs. This is initially how he and Lina get to know each other, as prior to meeting Filia and after her sister moved to college/her parents went off travelling, Lina resorted to fast food deliveries a lot for her meals. And kept getting Gourry as a delivery boy. Even when she ordered from different places.
Even after Filia starts working as Lina's housekeeper, Gourry still has a knack for being around when monsters show up to terrorize the town. Initially this is genuinely coincidence, but over time Gourry tries to make a point of being around to help out during crises. He can't blow things up with magic the way Lina and the other girls can, but he's got a surprising level of skill in martial arts and is good at evacuating civilians before the monsters can get them... or collateral damage from Lina's magic.
As the comic demonstrates, he also 1) figures out Lina's secret identity through sheer animal instinct and 2) doesn't even realize her secret identity is supposed to be a secret. He just thinks Lina and her friends have a weird thing for flashy outfits.
