I've always been incredibly impressed with the continual growth of Arctic Monkeys. Thrust into superstardom at a very young age, there are so many bands that just keep churning out the same formulas to keep relevant. After 2009's Humbug, it was pretty apparent that the band was looking to change their sound, but I never thought we'd get to what is thrown down on tape with Big Ideas from their latest album, The Car.
The band pulls in piano, strings, and a whole lot of restraint to really channel some classic Bowie-esque control that if you had told me the kids who belted out "You Look Good On The Dance Floor" would be releasing, I'd never have believed it.
A band that used to be be "pretty fun" has become an absolutely must listen for me in the past few years.
