Wrote a little thing about Marvel Midnight Suns. To say that it takes huge inspiration from Fire Emblem would be an understatement, but I really feel that the tactics are suffering due to just HOW MUCH of the game is the relationship aspect.

This might seem like I'm being a little down on the game. Truth is, I'm enjoying it so much more than I thought I would, but I'm hitting a frustration threshold because I just don't care about Marvel characters, and the writing here feels just so... Joss Whedon. Everyone may as well be winking and nudging you a lot of the time, and it really lacks emotional depth for a game that seems SO intent on you being friends and spending time with these folks.

Solid write-up! I've been curious about Midnight Suns due to my love of XCOM and card-based battle systems, but it sounds like this won't be a good fit for me. My own evaluation of Marvel is pretty similar to yours by the sound of things, and the idea of watching generic versions of these characters quip at each other for hours is not an appealing one.
