yeah the expo pass is....$293 and that is for one whole day of access and you dont even get gdc vault access. all access is $2200!!!! I used to slum it on the summits but even that was like $1k or more. and thats before air travel and shit. people be like "just hang out in the yerba buena gardens" like thats a doable proposition. I dont need a gig and have no desire to network, I also have zero desire to feel the fomo of not getting into the "right" parties.
I think the last year I went it was more of a "victory lap" because I was an actual designer at my job and thought that would make getting taken seriously easier. it doesnt.
I do like telling stories of meeting people like phil fish and tim rogers in person.
