i think youtube counts videos you mouseover to preview as "views" and puts them in your history because I check my yt history regularly to clear out stuff and fully half the things in there are things I hovered over to see if they were worth looking at, some I didn't hover over them at all. am I going to have to hide my mouse info from youtube?
I feel like one aspect of ad blocking and tracking has gotta be mouse telemetry data
Thats why i disable "inline playback" in the settings. Youtube still has a backup preview in place of this, and it just shows a short "gif" that starts somewhere past the begining of the video. Often i find that to be the only preview i need anyways, plus youtube doesnt really track that action from what i've seen.
It absolutely counts. I use YT on mobile a lot and it starts to autoplay/preview videos while I'm scrolling down. If I hang on one too long it shows up in my history...
such shite. youtube could be randomly sending me alt right videos and if I hover too long the algo just sends them in a firehose due to the feedback loop
I've found that removing videos from your history also removes their influence on your suggested videos. My friends and I used to have to clear stuff out when Elsagate was happening
yeah, hence why I often go through my history to remove stuff. I shouldn't have to! I should click a "more like this" button instead to weigh the algorithm instead of having to constantly prune an oversuggestive one
