- tiny thing I can hook into my tv so I can stream my friends twitch channels when I wfh
- tiny word processor I can type on in a coffee shop that cant load twitter dot com
- gamer laptop thats dx12 compatible so I have a target platform for my next game
it could also be, idk, what is the smallest old style thinkpad? they have to have something that’s like 10” with a pentimento 3 and a billion different ports on it
phones are bad computers. apps suck and I hate em. using my phone for this would obliterate the battery
true thats a good point. used chromebook then? you could get one with a broken screen for like. an insanely cheap price probably
one of my fav investments has been an intel nuc performance 11 for my set top tv pc (running win 10). it's not cheap, at ~$550, but it does so much. media center that can handle UHD/HDR video no sweat, useful for streaming, discord calls, web browsing for group things, could even be a server. it's like a better and cheaper mac mini.
could probably run emulators too. I have had an obsession with doing like N64 splitscreen gaming again but need something I can fit in a bag, I thought to use like an RPie4 or something but clearly something beefier would do the job better
i mean, nuc is def tiny enough to put in a messenger bag! but it has no internal battery so you'd have to take the power cable+brick, bring a portable monitor, keyboard, mouse etc... if on the go is your endgame, gaming laptop prolly makes more sense
this is specifically for instances where I go to a friends house, they have a TV, and instead of doing anything we just browse youtube. Instead I whip this thing out and 4 controllers and go "it's fuckin Snowboard Kids Time"
oh then in that case go nuc!!! you might wanna look at all the specs out there though, mine has "intel iris xe" graphics chipset that works O.K. but doesn't play nice with occasional stuff
