Basically years ago I got it into my head to make a 'proc gen road trip game' because I love driving endlessly in open world games, but those worlds have stupid things like "limits" because you have to conquer the whole map. Games like The Long Drive and Jalopy sort of filled the gap but I wanted something with a little more structure, like coming across towns and stuff. I also liked the idea of picking up NPC buds for the road trip.

I did make somewhat of a prototype, I have "endless terrain" which stretches into the horizion, a single strip of road that goes along the surface and periodically curves, and it spawns gas stations and roadside attractions once in a while. It also has unity's worst driving mechanics. I gave up around here and just released what I had

once in a while I want to revisit the project, I just need to figure out an easy way to make "infinite" "procedural" terrain, and an easy way to place roads on the surface and populate it with good enough scenery, then string together some systems to make traversal not easy but not difficult. I think it's doable I just need the motivation, and my motivation meter is building after my big burnout this quarter, so hm

One thing to watch out for is floating point imprecision as you get further away from 0,0.

If you start getting physics instability when you've driven a long way, you may need to make a system that periodically shifts everything to keep it close to the world origin.
