Going to be a while before I have anything solid. There's some good tutorials and starting things, but they don't fit together quite well. I can't get animations to loop for some reason, and it's not applying root animation, so the idle is just wiggling. I can't get it to go into a walk animation either without it displacing itself. Probably need to, uh, figure out more of it.
this was much easier than the same task in Unreal, which required...animation retargeting stuff that I couldn't grok.

things I missed:
- when downloading the mixamo anims, forgot to check "make stationary"
- when exporting the animations from blender, forgot to add "-loop" suffix to anims, this makes them loop
