"First I'm going to take you to Tin Hat where we'll sit at a booth and maybe learn bout each other then maybe hopefully smooch and pretty soon we'll be going steady and right after we move in I'm burning your crusty nissan altima to the ground and replacing it with a fuckin Volvo 240"
50 minutes from the office to my house through stop and go traffic, at one point it took 4 minutes to go one block. Even if it takes longer my stress level when driving leaves me totally drained. the commute is 12+ miles and there's a trail system that goes basically directly from my house to my office.
Things I need:
Motor Onyx, the electric moped company, sells the hub motors they use in their bikes that are good for 30mph, or 50 if I get the high end model. These are like $850-$1100 but if I'm using it to get to work, well, can't cheap out
Frame Gonna track down a Puch Maxi frame for this, mainly because I'm in the moped scene so I can find parts for it easily like tires, shocks, and I have a front wheel and brake hub for it lying around somewhere. Also things like seats, handlebars are easy to find. But lastly they're a bit beefier than bikes so I feel like the hardware will take the wear and tear of commuting easier.
Battery/Controller Here's what I don't know yet and need to figure out. I want a battery I can disconnect so I can charge it in the office during the day. I need to figure out what size battery to get and what controller. My goal is to do 30mph average over about 30 miles a day. That doesn't seem impossible.
Waterproofing I live in the PNW and it gets fuckin wet out here lmao. everything's gotta be waterproof somehow.
