I don’t like the anti-numbers stance on this website. It feels very much like YouTube taking away the dislike button “for our own good.” Like, noooooo!!!! I want transparency. I wanna see, in simple numerics, how many friends enjoyed my post. But I can’t do that, here, so my brain assumes it’s zero and everybody secretly hates me. I’m so anxious, and it’s so lonely and scary, here. ☹️

in reply to @hellscape's post:

if u give it a chance u might get used to it and like it! i for one VERY much like the lack of metrics. its totally encouraging people to comment and talk and send more asks! i have like 200 followers on tumblr and i never got ANY interactions on my art or interests or anything like that, it was all just numbers. i think the complete lack of numbers is basically making us like- social again, for our own good like you said lmao.

people call it 'numbers chasing' which honestly, to me, is 100% accurate. other social media sites are designed to give you a dopamine hit when your numbers go up and thats all you really end up after. i really like that commenting is the main form of interaction (because likes dont matter and shares just spread the post) because like- were complimenting each other and getting to know each other, its really cool and sweet imo!

also also "big" accounts dont feel like "big" accounts theyre just people, big posts are just fun posts, theres no like- hierarchy if that makes sense? i just feel like im in a big room with a bunch of people, its nice and comforting for me personally
