People trying to justifying Apple using a proprietary port on the Vision Pro because “eughhhh, it uses 13V batteries to increase the total watt hours >>>>:((” when the USB-C PD 1.0 standard literally includes a 12V profile. 😐

And the USB-C PD 2.0 & 3.0 standards include a 15V profile. 😐😐

Not to mention, Apple’s proprietary port can’t transmit data, as is, meaning if you brick your device during a reset or update, you have to take time out of your day and pay an Apple Store to fix it. 😐😐😐

Meanwhile, the USB-C PD standard includes support for USB 3.0 10Gbps speeds. 😐😐😐😐

And Apple literally helped design USB-C, so their insistent refusal to use it on their products is 😐😐😐😐😐

But don’t worry! Apple will, actually, sell you an adapter, so you can plug a USB-C cable into your $3,500 headset… as long as you pay a $99/year developer fee 😐😐😐😐😐😐

And then pay $300 for the dongle, itself. 😐😐😐😐😐😐😐

I’m honestly so over this site’s content moderation tools (or lack there of.) There is a reason I set my replies/comments to “Only people who have followed me for two weeks” on Tumblr. I fucking hate replies. I just can’t stand them. They are the worst, least personal way of communication, and they absolutely stress me out. I can’t fucking stand them, and I can’t fucking stand that I can’t delete the annoying ones, here. I woke up and saw my Sims 4 piracy post had actually gotten a lot of interaction. Good! I was excited. More people need to pirate The Sims 4. Well, it’s fucking gone now because there was a single comment lecturing me over nothing. I’m over it. If I can’t delete the annoying comments on posts, then I’m going to delete the post. I don’t give a shit how useful or funny people are finding it. It’s so fucking tedious having to turn off the comments on every damn post, manually. Not to mention when you do delete it, all the notes stick around in your inbox and continue to make you feel worse! This site’s design is pure toxic-nostalgia-clinging brain rot with its anti-numbers mindset making it remove vital social media features that are literally there for a reason.

People having meltdown about Tumblr’s new AI toggle are a prime showcase of how that site is becoming a cess pool of reactionary misery.

The toggle is opt-in by default because opting out is what requires something to be done. Prior to the toggle existing, you were already opted-in with no choice. By hitting that “Agree” button on the terms of service you agreed to allow Tumblr to use your data and send it to its third party collaborators, which typically includes advertisers, but now, in 2024, also contains AI companies.

Your blog was opted-in to this feature this whole time and you never knew. Therefore, by adding the opt-out toggle and making it off by default, absolutely nothing has changed. You’re still opted-in, just like you were a few days ago before the toggle existed.

What is different is that you can now change that toggle and finally opt-out, for the first time. The toggle isn’t something to get mad over because:

A: it literally doesn’t change a single thing
B: it is a net positive privacy feature
C: you’re the one who opted in, in the first place, by hitting “agree” on the ToS. If you don’t like the idea of data scraping for AI usage, then boy do I have some bad news about every other free service you’ve ever hit “Agree” or “Accept All” on. If you don’t want AI scraping your shit, use a more privacy-minded site like Cohost or Mastodon. Otherwise, boohoo. What did you expect?

Tumblr just sees a buzzword and something different and goes and whines about it. Literally the same mindset as the conservatives, and yet these people claim to be better than them.

The Tumblr Staff pretending to care about proper moderation when you can't even report a blog on their site is hilarious. Not only will the report form reject a regular blog link, but the form also forces you two write two paragraphs and fill out a whole ass Google reCAPTCHA just to report hate. Is it any reason why you don't get any reports for actual hateful individuals, Staff? When you make it as difficult as possible and smother those who are already feeling shitty in more shit, then of course people aren't going to report stuff to you because it's more stress than it's worth. Asking users to tell how this violates Tumblr's policy's. BULL-SHIT. That's your job not ours. Do it.

I swear to god I just spent like 15-30 minutes reporting ONE blog. A blog that has not only been active for years, but is marked in Shinigami eyes. What a joke website. I don't give a shit if the trans staff members actually wrote that apology. Actions speak louder than words, and so far, Staff has been silent, as far as I'm concerned.
