you really dont have to add a CW for "nudity" or "nsfw" or "porn" or other generic adult content terms. just click that "adult content" checkbox in the top right. that's cohost's special built-in CW for things like nudity or nsfw or porn or anything you could generically describe as adult content. otherwise you're just giving people extra steps before they can see your art. they already followed you!! they are following your porn account!! they want to see your art!!! just use the "adult content" checkbox!! Please

thank you for reading, happy pornchosting!

Edit: hey good news! Tag filtering/tag muffling is HERE AND ACTIVE! If you go to your settings and add a tag to your filtered tags, it will hide a post with that tag, exactly the same way as if you added a CW to the post. So if you're worried about people not being able to filter a post that is only marked with the adult content checkbox, fear not! As long as you tagged it properly, and they have the tag filtered, it will work perfectly! Yahoo!

Wanna see what that looks like? Check out this post.

for more of me talking about NSFW and tagging, check out this post. thank you

in reply to @inkycap's post:

I believe the complaint I saw about this was that the adult content thing doesn't let you know what kind of adult content you're going to see, and doesn't stack with other CWs. So if you're notionally OK with porn, but don't want to see tits, that's a gap in the cohost UI because the NSFW flag specifically makes it impossible to see that latter info. But perhaps that's outdated info.

similarly, my biggest issue is I'll often be talking about adult topics I don't want <18s to see, so when it's actually just pictures of my dick I'm trying to make it clear to people that I'm not just talking about things, they are, in fact, about to just see a picture they won't want to open on the subway.

if tags showed and not just cws, I'd much prefer to use tags, or a summary, any way to describe it before opening.

I think it's a need in general because I often get the opposite, expecting porn and finding a text post that's not even that explicit

That's true, but I'm talking about the preponderance of NSFW content with no relevant tags and only a generic content warning, as described above.

Also, luckily, the mod I talked to said that tag filtering is right around the corner which will solve all of that

since I can't see tags until I open the CW, they're only good if both parties agree on tags already, unfortunately, unless that changed this week.

if the tags showed too, that'd be a better place to do it, but still a kludge rn with adult content flag obliterating almost all user visible post context until you open it

That would be true if it weren't for the fact that there is Tag Muting now. So if someone has breasts or tits as a tag, you can mute that, which collapses the post like it would a content warning. At that point the problem is people not being generous with their tags which is a problem with literally anything with any sort of tag OR content warning.

OK yeah tag filtering/tag muffling is here and active, which means that if you add a tag to your filtered tags, and someone posts something that has that tag but is only behind the "Adult Content" checkbox, then cohost will hide it like a CW'd post, showing all relevant tags same as a CW'd post.
