yr girl forgot the password to its laptop's full-disk encryption earlier today, and also forgot to write down the password that encrypts its backups
fortunately its old laptop had an ssh key i could use to decrypt the encrypted copy of the backup keyfile i keep in git (agenix is really cool) so i could use that to pull the backup key, then use the laptop's ssh key to actually connect to the backup server so i didn't have to do the 'get physical access and manually copy over the new ssh pubkey' dance) and i'm now restoring the backup. plus my config is versioned via nix so i don't actually lose... anything other than the fact that i've spent the past few hours doing this shit, really
