no more social media. i make text games that are poorly rated in game jams and talk about cool niche stuff.

started playing ed-0 and it’s … really fun lol. it’s a shiren the wanderer-like but as a 3d action game with controls slightly inspired by soulslike but is otherwise a very item-based game.

like other mystery dungeon games, the best way to survive is through a combination of items and builds. and they are all pretty weird: an exploding onigiri, sake that makes you or enemies drunk, and charms that put you on fire but also give you % higher while attacking.

the skills are also very funny: i’ve been maining the ninja and you can juggle enemies or make a giant bubble that slows down enemies while draining health slowly. they recharge based on time and how many normal attacks you do.

i defeated the first boss which is very tanky if you just take on it head-on. my first try was somewhat “combat pure” because i didn’t have enough items and it took a long time to drain down to 25% health before i die.

i returned to the boss a few minutes later with buffs like “if enemies are poisoned, damage increases”, a poisoned food, an exploding onigiri, and a buff that burns enemies. the boss didn’t touch me once.

the level design is also very interesting. it makes use of 3d space quite well: i was shocked after navigating the typical shiren the wanderer corridors of forest to find a village with houses that have stairs to a second floor. and i expect this trend of complexity to continue: the second stage which i’m in is a maze of rooms and it seems like you have to slice through doors if you don’t want to get surprised.

all in all, a very cool game that seems to either make you fall in love with it or not.
