...I feel moved to point out I complain about modpacks over 50 .jars tall :eggbug-nervous:

Importantly, I tend to play mod presets which include at least one GINORMOUS mod, the kind of mod so big I can't send it to my friends over Discord. That admittedly does a lot to get the strain up to "and here's how you forcibly allocate more RAM to Minecraft so it can actually run" levels without increasing file count!

Yeah, I definitely tend to prefer many small mods over one big mod with tons of features - eventually the big mods end up containing a bunch of stuff I don't like and I don't wanna sit there editing configs all day when I could instead just get standalone mods of the things I like. Lots of little things put together.

So like, I have a mod that all it does is add a piece of chalk you can use to draw arrows on walls to navigate caves easier. Or a mod that just adds little dust particles to caves for atmosphere. Or one that instantly copies screenshots to the clipboard when you take them for easier pasting into other programs. Adds up jar-total wise but they're often pretty small. (The smallest is only 10KB, and all it does is turn off all the tutorial prompts.)

Extremely reasonable. I don't have a choice in the matter– stuff like Pixelmon is going to be huge even if they tried to compartmentalize its pieces!– but for people without Putting Another Game Inside Minecraft brainsickness, smaller a la carte sure does look attractive!

(What's the chalk for cave walls mod?? Need link pls)

(Also I definitely do have some pretty hefty mods in the list too - Create and Botania off top of head. I just tend to have a couple of those types of mods and then fill out the rest of the meal with small garnish mods. And then get really distracted with options for cute vanilla-style biomes and wood types and animals..... And little QOL things..... And little atmospheric things................ very sad that the cool realistic sound echo mod is so bad for performance rn)
