they shouldn't have even bothered. The game looks stunning in SDR and normal lighting. The HDR looks like the worst reshade filter I've ever seen, and the ray tracing has no real noticeable effect aside from tanking your FPS even on a RTX card. If they added DLSS the performance might have stayed steady but for whatever reason they don't.

There are other aspects of Elden Ring's pc port that drive me nuts, but I'll talk about that later.

in reply to @hkr's post:

I genuinely love raytracing stuff and get excited when I see it added to a game and Elden Ring's is maybe truly, literally the worst implementation of it I've ever seen lmao

The most Fromsoft thing of all time, right after they "implemented PS4 pro features" into the PS4 copy of Dark Souls 3 by just unlocking the frame rate without giving the player any control over it, so Pro owners were suddenly forced to have a worse experience by making their game a stuttering shitty 40-50 FPS mess in a game where consistency in latency is arguably the most important detail

I'm so glad From publishes on PC same day as console now; their pc ports of course still have issues, but at least those will eventually be fixed by the community.
