It really cannot be overstated how important artwork is to the TTRPG as a collaborative medium. Sure, these are games of imagination, but so much of the vividness and feel of a sourcebook is conveyed by works like the above cover, used for Practical Planetology. Beyond merely being inspiring, these provide a shared coordinate for players and GMs, letting them share their imaginative spaces so much more richly and fully. More than ever, it is so important that we recognize, appreciate, and duly compensate artists for the immense service they do when elevating and enriching the projects to which they contribute, as Jaquays did so many times. Rest in peace.
