Whether on mouse or touchscreen, this type of control slider is impossible to move smoothly and you're an asshole if this is your default (VSTs that emulate hardware synths are excused because you can still move the mouse up and down to twist the knob)

I agree, this probably shouldn't be the default control for this. It serves the purpose of "Tap to turn on/off AND has a 'slider'", but it's not really the most... ergonomic. It looks neat, but is bad UX.
I realize this is getting into "unasked-for advice" territory, but have you tried the Tile card instead? You should be able to use that and add the Feature "Light Brightness" to get a horizontal slider.
