@jkap

had a blast seeing old friends, meeting new ones, talking to cohost users, talking about cohost to non-users who have since become users (both during aidan and my talk on friday, and through casual conversations), saw a bunch of great talks, got gassed up by someone whose blog i've read since fucking middle school. just an unbelievably great experience and, to speak frankly, one i really needed right now.

sad this is the last year. i can't think of another event that brings together the general idea of "creatives", especially not in an informal (the only "booth" was a zine table) context. i hope that someday we get a replacement, but it's sure as hell not gonna be from me; event planning is a nightmare.

thank you andy and andy for having us, and thanks for everything you've done to make xoxo happen.

(also yes i swear the slides we promised are going to go up soon. i literally just got back into town and need to clean them up first)

in reply to @jkap's post:

Aww, thank you so much. It was so great to have you there.

I was literally just talking about Cohost in the XOXO Slack. Someone posted a link to the Chappell Roan "YOU'RE NOT FUN!" video clip, which they hadn't seen before I referenced it on stage while introducing Cohost at XOXO.

Here's what I wrote:

For those that missed it, I was vamping while Cohost got their laptop hooked up at Art+Code and was just talking about how great I think it is that they're trying to do something people used to do ALL THE TIME in the early 2000s (including me!): launching an independent social app on the web.

It's really hard and you face so much criticism from people telling you that it's impossible or can't compete with VC-funded billion-dollar social media companies (duh), but also who cares what they think!? Look how much fun stuff people are making on Cohost! I still have a small group of friends who use Peach, for god's sake. It's still worth trying!

BE FUN AND TRY!

thank you!!!! it was genuinely inspiring to hear from so many people (including you of course) that are excited about what we're trying to do. good motivation going into this week to keep making it happen
