Nearly 30 new entries! Go check them out! EDIT: More than 30! There were several other submissions that I simply did not see for some reason the first time around.
My thoughts this time around:
- As you can tell, not so many new independent submissions this time, despite it being like 6 weeks since the last update - most of the new entries are creators that I discovered on my own and followed on my porno reporting account @BiggHoggDogg. This tells me that the master list likely simply isn't circulating and/or being used as a resource as much as it once was. Which is good! This project began as a way of addressing discoverability concerns for early adopters of the platform, but as the platform's grown and users have gotten better at tagging and finding new people to follow organically through things like following reposts, discoverability has correspondingly gotten a lot better. No need to comb through a massive list for what you're into when you can just search it up in the tags!
- Speaking of the size of the list, this update pushed it firmly over 500 total entries. While this is obviously good from the point of view of providing a thoroughly representative snapshot of the state of Cohost's porn community, that many entries (and the accompanying nearly-150 comments beneath) have made the post pretty cumbersome from a loading standpoint. One can almost hear the server groaning and chugging as it struggles to fetch it.
- One thing I've learned while maintaining this list is that unless you specifically prompt them to do so, a very large proportion of 18+ artists are honestly pretty miserable at effectively describing the kind of art they make and how they make it. Whenever I go to the profile of an artist I'd like to include on the list and hunt for some kind of summary of what it is they're into, SO often I'm confronted with something like "18+ illustrator" or "I put my guys in situations" or "fun furry art! :3". Obviously nobody's paying you to do this and you can do what you want, but, like... you're missing a pretty huge opportunity to confidently communicate what people can expect when they follow you! Have some pride in what you create for fuck's sake! Show a little swagger!
With seemingly-diminishing interest/utilization of the list (which, again, I'm not upset at all about), I'll probably wait another month, maybe even two, before I do another update. If you appreciate the work I've done on the list, please consider checking out my sex-work-and-Millennial-wish-fulfillment-themed visual novel Opportunity: A Sugar Baby Story on Steam, Itch, or GOG!
