people generalize that when you're a kid it seems like everything's possible, but personally i'd say it felt a lot more constrained. i, at least for a while, treated rules as much more strict, statements about the world akin to ‘you can't pet the dog in [some video game]’, before slowly coming to the terrifying realization they're just something someone says and (maybe) enforces. but i definitely do feel i've lost innocent imagination for large-scale project organization.

when i heard that Sherlock fans thought there could have been a secret extra episode with hints throughout the rest of the BBC, i kind of understood i think. nearly a decade ago when Microsoft acquired Mojang for $2.5B and put some similar figure on how much they expected to make from their augmented reality venture at the time, i interpreted the release of ‘Minecraft for Windows 10’ or whatever it was called as part of some big plan, rather than MS just asking for a tech demo from one of their studios. beyond a certain size, the easiest option is just plodding forward, sadly.

i think this is why people like Apple devices, but it's only done at a level that's impressive to me now that i actually know how difficult this kind of thing is, sorry. probably why deranged people like me are still somewhat starstruck by TempleOS. one day, i too will bring my overwrought top-down operating system into this world.
