it is a special kind of infuriating that the CEO seems more upset about the act of setting a precedent than just doing the right thing. he agonizes over where the line is drawn, as if the mere act of drawing a line in the sand is a herculean effort fraught with hypocrisy.
and like, my guy. you are the CEO. you can just set the precedent where you want it and say tough shit to everything else. you are literally the person who draws the line in the sand. you drew the line in the sand literally just now by refusing to include a simple suicide hotline widget to a certain web search on the basis that including it would draw the line somewhere else.
god i hate the business class so much. they're so irrationally terrified of just making a fuckin decision if the decision is just "do you want to assist people for the greater good and nothing else, or do nothing because you will not be financially or socially rewarded for it?"
