the last one here is one of my afternoon runs, but the rest appear to be morning (we've both got our Novice Instructor, Michael, in the passenger seat)

these were taken by Chris Cervenka in the Red Hills SCCA facebook group. thanks Chris, who will probably not see this!

it's such a fun car. we got this one used and managed to find one with the turbo engine (which is a way less common trim) and man it can MOVE.

it's gonna be getting even more of workout in a few months; taking it to a track night at daytona in april

oh fuck yes Daytona is one of the most fun tracks I've ever driven in my life. even the inner section feels ragged-edge. also holy shit turbo six WAS rare, if you can hang onto that one you should, it's going to be the literal embodiment of "the good old days" in car design in a decade I swear

in reply to @hootOS's post:

there ARE 3d models of that gen of mazda6 on turbosquid for about a hundred bucks, and i do know some modders who could throw it into CarX and Assetto for a fee (not sure how much, probably around the same price). so if you have a sim rig and a fat enough wallet you can just like, Make It Happen lmao

also fwiw CarX is super controller friendly, almost feels sacrilege to use a wheel BUT grip racing is way more fun on a wheel than controller, while drifting is piss easy on controller. and the older gen mazda6 is just, there. in the steam workshop. lol
