i don't exactly know why but for some reason the screensaver on my pc doesn't seem to like working sometimes. it will work if i go through the process of entering the control panel, select a different screensaver and click apply. but eventually it will just stop working again, so i have to go back and do it over again.

and like, im genuinely unsure if this is a genuine intentional function, or if win10 is having a weird fit about this specific feature. a desktop shortcut for microsoft edge keeps popping up on my desktop after i delete it, so at this point i can't tell if the OS is malfunctioning on a very basic, mundane level is intentional or not. for all i know, the screensaver deactivates because microsoft thinks everybody's monitors are new enough to not have to worry about burn-in, even though it is 2023 where new monitors that have any modicum of reliability beyond a couple years will cost a few hundred dollars.

in reply to @hootOS's post:

i would do that, except for two reasons: 1, one of my monitors is actually a TV so every time it turns off it returns to default TV settings. It makes text and images look oversharpened by default, so i have to go into the settings and change the preset to make it work like a monitor. and 2, my monitors will not automatically turn back on when i wiggle my mouse to wake the monitors back up. Only one of them does, and it's about 10 years old (but new to me, got it at a thrift store)
