agreed. i think that's why the moderation decision is so stunning to me; this is the first time the devs have shown any wishy-washy reaction to the kind of person on Cohost who also holds a parler and gab account. it comes across as exceedingly uncharacteristic considering the past actions of the team.
i don't think this is going to be an about face to the same type of first amendment apologism we see from other social media owners and developers. im pretty confident this is just a really big misstep on this particular situation, and it'll most likely be corrected. i don't know how the decision was made not to ban the account, but i can bet the team is going to be re-evaluating these decisions and course-correct to decisive removal of free speech absolutists - the kinds who think shaming antisemites and queerphobes is "silencing speech" or whatever the hell they think.
