The state of disability support in Canada has been the absolute worst in this country's history, with most provinces handling (very poorly) who gets it and how much they get. This may not seem uniquely disgusting given that other countries have similar means-tested """supports""" with meager payouts... until you remember Medical Assistance In Dying (MAiD) was recently expanded through the Supreme Court to include incurable/permanent mental illness as a qualified justification for the process.

Given the current number of people across Canada who were already forced to choose between MAiD or dying on the streets due to poor disability support anyway, that expansion means disabled people are being fucking funneled into a death panel.

I'm not saying this to say Canada is worse to disabled people than other countries, because quite a few OECD countries treat us like absolute dogshit. It's a reminder that disability support everywhere is fucking inhumane. and i am not being dramatic about that.

Edit: this is not to say MAiD is a terrible concept - some physical and mental disabilities are genuinely terrible to live with, and should all other options be exhausted and life is still extremely painful and difficult for disabled people, they should have this option. but, given the state of disability support in this country, it's funneling people with lives that can be sustainable into a program that murders them because the government chooses not to let disabled people reach that sustainability.
