gonna derail this post (if you can even derail a post thats just An Image And A Lil Bit Of Text?) but can i just geek out about the fact that NFSU2 had a full, in-depth tuning menu where you could not only adjust the stiffness of your suspension, the anti-roll bars, tire pressures and all that, but you could also fuck with the Engine Control Unit and the turbo to literally change the power curve of the car?
it's kind of insane that an arcade racing game gave you more tuning adjustments than many simulation racing games at the time. like, ECU tuning was unheard of in sim racing, and here's an arcade racing game made by Electronic Arts that let you fuck with the power curve of the car
i often find myself replaying this game just to spend hours tweaking stuff in the tuning menu then testing the car on a completely empty track.
