This incident brought us back into the pits with one minute of damage repairs, already putting us down a lap from most of the field before our second lap even began.
As soon as they left the pits we knew rain was coming in the next 25 to 30 minutes. And so they brought back the car, took wet tires and fuel for an hour, and off again. By the time April came back for a full service, the rain was due to stop any time.
So we gambled on not stopping again and took slicks, hoping the track would dry quickly enough that we'd lose around 70 seconds on track, but gain back more by not stopping for the remaining 30 minutes. We were wrong. But we'd lose even more time by stopping again at this point. And so April trickled down to P34 to end the race. Doesn't make much of a difference in the standings in the end, but it's yet another "what if" to add on to the pile for this round.
