I think the nice thing about them is that it does force them to actually buy themselves a treat. Like if I give you $20 that just gets funneled into your budget and is forgotten about. But a $20 gift card to a nail polish shop is like I’m getting you nail polish I’m just letting you pick out the color because I know you’re particular
The real upsetting shit is that gift cards expire — most companies bank on that. It’s free money for them
