alright so what are your thoughts on the Chris Chinball era of Doctor Who?

i adore it. it created one million brilliant ideas and barely succeeded at executing on any of them. i love the doctor as a codependent dyke drama transfem. i love the flux and the timeless child. i love the half-nods to lungbarrow in s13. i love the dynamic of every companion just Leaving because they don't wanna die. i love all its amazing side characters that never go anywhere -- jack robertson, vinder, bel, karvanista, the great serpent, ashad. it's full to bursting with potential and, through a combination of incompetence and the worst fucking luck on the planet (covid rewrites, forced reschedulings, multiple key actors getting outed as sex pests partway through plotlines), completely lacks the ability to follow through. i'd much rather watch something "bad" but interesting than something competent but boring; chris chibnall was bold enough to try something new at every single turn, and the positive reverberations of that will continue for years to come.

also segun akinola is 10x better than murray gold and i WILL die on this hill
