The St Kilda field mouse landed on the shores of an isolated Scottish archipelago by hitching rides upon Viking longboats. There they've remained and thrived, separated from their wood mouse brethren for 1000 years.

Do you have any fun animal facts?

most of my fun facts are etymology-related instead of animal-related, but some of them are both!

did you know that buckaroo and vaccine both come from the same root word? and that word is vacca, the latin word for cow!
(buckaroo -> vaquero -- spanish for cowboy. vaccine, meanwhile, is named after the first known natural vaccine: cowpox!)
