I'm worried for my 5 unfinished PALISADE wips. What if my already low motivation leaves entirely once the season is over. what then. it'll be so annoying. I'd at LEAST like to finish this one
anyways though.
my awesome lines (I'm using a brush I haven't used much before lately & it's mostly fun again):
I had the idea of the painted hands in the background but I'm sooo conflicted because it makes the lines kind of iffy because they don't stand out enough. because I love thin lines.
I obviously fucked around with opacity too but then you can't see the hands very well anymore which is sad because I do like how they turned out... It's not perfect and I actually mostly painted over a sketch which in turn I'd drawn over from a stock image, but it does convey what I wanted it to (it was hard to find a picture of the Exact type of handholding I meant. Lots of ways to hold hands).
And lastly I really want it to (at least in parts) have a kind of dreamy watercolor look. Which I haven't managed to work in yet...
I also might try to kind of... make the hands bleed into the background a bit? I don't have the background yet though & I really would like to work in purple (you know, Valence!) but I don't know how well that works with the colors I picked for the hands yet. The way I colored Brnine+Valence in here is kind of too muted... I shy away from bright colors often and I'm wondering if I should lean in to it here or try and change how the hands look instead.
Just some concept stuff:
My original sketch was actually just Brnine in the corner & then them holding hands and then I thought it looked too stiff for what the lines actually felt like ("i'll find you one day / washed out in your head / we'll be holding hands / with nothing in the air") so it ballooned out a little, which I'm now fairly happy with. I like Brnine changing. I'm still not sure if I should keep the Valence ear movement - it's the only difference between all 3 images of them (I'll be real this is just because I am not good at drawing furries. sorry. Also it's actually important to me that they're looking at Brnine the whole time). I only made the minimal change because again, it looked a little stiff? I could make the argument to myself that it's sound because in Brnine's head, they don't change, since they're dead, but I don't know. (Though this too makes me have an uhmmm actually moment which is that they did like. get a new body/fit at one point. during the Kingdom Game. & I don't think it's what I drew I think I'd have to mess with the design a little if I wanted to get that across. It probably doesn't matter because I don't know if anyone looking at this is going to be as annoying as me about it. Unlikely.)
