tweetdeck is not only forcing you onto the crappier new version but will apparently be paywalled, so i guess i am officially not looking at twitter anymore. RIP

i already used it in a pretty "lite" manner anyway; no mobile app for the last year or so, which was great for my health, and periodically just browsing my timeline on tweetdeck for a moment in between working on things. but now i guess i'm going to effectively zero

i've had an account since July 2009 so it's hard not to feel a bit weird and bitter. i had such a nice drip feed of amazing art and music and funnies for years and years. well, onward we go i guess

edit: as an addendum, i had recently signed up to try mastodon anyway because i ran across a cool zone name. i def intend to keep posting here too but we can be friends there too if you like: https://glitch.lgbt/@hvb

in reply to @hvb's post:

I uninstalled the Twitter app from my phone not too long ago, and my mental health has been slowly improving.
Honestly, even before Musk took over, I realized how much I don't like it and, if it wasn't because my favorite creators are in there, I would have probably deleted my account long ago.

Twitter sucks. I'm glad that this site exists.

yeah, cohost has been the most social media-ing i've done in years. when i was first using twitter way back in the day, the vibe was a lot different - pretty much tweeting for and with my friends. but it, sort of in tandem with fb, grew into something less and less healthy, and i didn't post with much frequency (or personal-ness) the last several years, just kinda passively browsed.
