#4 - roleplaying games
i recently picked back up the game "final fantasy the eighth". i started it like 3yr ago and kinda forgot about it. everything is insane and nothing makes sense, but i'm growing more attached to it and its cast too, and the main guy (i named him "Mainguy") is entering his Character Development Arc, i can feel it. i'm hoping there's some interesting twists and turns for the game to take still, especially cause the explanations given for story stuff just are not satisfying yet. also the battle system is completely wack? (luckily this remaster has 3x speed mode.) i'm down with the magic system being offbeat (limited casts but you can absorb new spells in the world or in battle or with items? cool tbh) but i have basically never encountered a reason not to just spam the summons instead - they not only deal massive damage but shield your HP while they're powering up. so why do anything else? also they are called "GF" and that never stops being funny. love to hang out with my GFs.
also shout out to the theme for "fishermans horizon", i have felt compelled to start learning that one on the piana. examining uematsu's voice leading is rewarding i think
