@hvb

last night i dreamed that my friend hosted a one hour battle (compo), but it wasn't on battle of the bits or anywhere else, it was HERE on cohost dot org.

the dream actually kinda made me think that could be really fun if enough people were in on it? it'd be very informal, and probably best done with a specific tag for the event and its entries.

what i'm envisioning is: a time is scheduled/chosen in advance, then the prompt goes out at that time. people spend an hour making their songs and then they upload them right here as an audio post. and all the entries get tagged the same thing and we just listen and comment i guess, probably no scoring. maybe even people could participate within the day, to be timezone friendly, and just operate on the honor system that you spent about an hour on it lol.

anyone think that sounds interesting? cohost one hour compo? call it COMPOST??

in reply to @hvb's post:

maybe this could be like the 2HC thing that they do (did?) on jp twitter? i feel like since it's a web challenge so its not very strict with the timing, 2 hours is a better fit. i think they'd do one every so many days (every 3 days iirc)

EDIT: this was the thing: https://twitter.com/2hoursDTM and basically it would reveal a prompt at a certain time and then ppl would post their 2hour compo creations with that hashtag, no voting or anythingies--i never participated bc its at a pretty rough time (i think its like 5-7am lmao) but it always seemed really cool!

ohh this is awesome! good point this might be a solid template. maybe i would encourage like "1-2 hours" or something - i feel like one of the virtues of the one hour compo is its fairly low commitment

with 2 hours i think you dont feel as bad starting 15 minutes (or even 1 hour) late, but that does require a little bit of "marketing" i agree. also to be clear i dont think every 3 days is a good frequency, thats too much IMO lmao

i would LOVE no scoring and just commenting and listening instead

i get really shy about scoring because i'm not in it for that reason, i just want to make things with others... so i'd be interested in participating if it were in a format that i could do / work with, personally

I'd like to participate in this but timezones would mean that I'd probably have to go with your "participation within the day" rule. (Maybe a rule like "between 8 and 9 pm in your timezone" might work, but I don't think I could even manage that regularly)
Sounds really cool!
