another day, another SONG! i am posting one (1) tracker or DAW video per day to youtube and writing a bit about it here on the cohost. hope you enjoy!

<-- the previous day's song | the next day's song -->

today's song is: Naiads & Alseids (collab with hanna lee), for the SNES's soundchip SPC700

if i'm not mistaken this was my second SNES tune ever, with the first being a 2HB, and both of those being the only songs i ever made with the SNESMOD .it module to .spc converter. and for good reason; to me it's a fair bit more of a pain to use than C700, because you have to track in a very specific way just to avoid little popping/clicking noises cropping up all over your music when you convert, and as i learned later, finer control of SPC700 features involves a bunch of repurposed .it commands that you can't hear reflected in your work while you write. even with how much i like trackers now (i was pretty new at the time), i simply couldn't imagine using anything but C700 now, lol.

anyway, i wrote the theme for this tune originally for a past Sample Pack Contest, and then the deadline for that passed, so i suggested we make this for Winter Chip a couple years ago instead. hanna did some cool and interesting sculpting to the parts that i would've never thought of or done, so it is the sort of collab song that wouldn't have existed any other way. (it was also done under crunch time, i think it was submitted with like a half hour on the clock...) i was trying very hard to make something that sounded halfway Soyo Oka-ish and i mostly feel like i succeeded in that regard. it's jaunty and spicy and leaps around a bunch! i spruced up the song considerably when preparing my Elemental Harmony EP and that will hopefully be my last SNESMOD experience πŸ˜…
