another day, another song! today's song is served hot with a side of yogurt for palate cleansing. soon i'll have to render a new batch of videos - got stuff through xmas eve, but adding more shouldn't be too tough now that i actually have a simple workflow for this stuff.

<-- the previous day's song | the next day's song -->

today's song is: Discontentment Heatmap, for 8x SPC700 (SNES soundchip)

i wrote this one with 8 instances of the "chipsynth SFC" VST and no other plugins or effects. technically because of all the sample layering i did, a couple of them would break polyphony restrictions at times, but i still feel pretty comfortable saying this is for 8 SNES soundchips lol. it was a really fun way to write! and it'd be fun to do some re-writing with C700 and actually record all the parts sometime...

the song itself came about from me looping the kick drum into a sweet saw synth which made me think of 65daysofstatic's newer* music (*ok, since We Were Exploding Anyway came out in 2010; i'm old) and so i tried my hand at writing something Big like that. it's not my usual style, but i think it turned out quite cool! recommended listening VERY LOUD for maximum impact.
