making up for yesterday's lack of song post, i shall double post today! both of today's songs are premieres, as they are from Super Famicompo 4 which just concluded. the previous song was a hefty original, but this one is a cute cover!

<-- the previous day's song | the next day's song

today's song is: Blipston Theme (Squidlit cover), for the SNES's soundchip SPC700

this is a song from one of my friends' games, Squidlit! which, as i just grabbed the link for it, is apparently on sale for 49 CENTS and its quite impressive sequel Super Squidlit is on sale for $1.59. they would be money well spent for a fun afternoon or something. the original is modeled heavily after Gameboy game restrictions, while the sequel targets the Gameboy Color and has some neat 3D segments. the original music was made in LSDJ!

anyway, when i played the game this tune lodged itself in my brain and i decided i wanted to do a rendition of it for SNES. the song reminded me of "Hello, Happy Kingdom" from Super Mario RPG so i used the instruments from that song to make it. i didn't pull any huge punches with the tune or anything, but i snuck in a bunch of pitch modulation for flavor and because the squelchiness of the distortion sounded very squid-like.
