that feels dramatic to type in all caps! actually we're just here for another daily video-of-a-song post, and that's the title of today's song. pretty soon i think i'm gonna make an index post of all the songs i've posted so far; the prev/next navigation is cool and all but there's a lot of different stuff up here now and it'd be nice for people to be able to comb through that way for what piques their interest...

<-- the previous day's song | the next day's song -->

today's song is: What You Have Loved You May Never Love Again, .it module (regular size)

this one was written in a day for 2021's Advent Calendar iteration! the sample pack we were working with had some nice rain noise and a good EP so those became my base for a moody and hypnotic little tune. i was thinking about some of the more mellow "post-rock" type stylings of The Album Leaf (one of my favorite guys of music) and, though it doesn't show in the instrumentation, The Six Parts Seven, whose song titles i was riffing on when i named this (the one i'm thinking of is named "What You Love You Must Love Now"). plus some classic dami-glitch weirdness punctuating the ends of the patterns.

it might look hefty channel-wise but a lot of that is gratuitous delay channels to really fill the space and make it feel more expansive. this is, in my mind at least, the kind of tune you just lose yourself in for a while on a rainy day. i seem to recall it being fairly warm and rainy on the December day i wrote this, and i had the window open while writing.
