time for another doozy of a daily song post! hold onto your hats! or, if you are not wearing a hat, find something else to hold on to. it is essential that you are holding onto something.

<-- the previous day's song | the next day's song -->

today's song is: Cerebra Borealis (collab with @mandrasigma), .it module

we wrote this song to premiere at the @Infloresce Snowdrop Festival!! it marks our fifth collaboration thus far and i would say our most ambitious, especially since we went for a traditional .it module. mandra chose the wintry set of samples - lots of bells and keys (many retro and ROMplery), wind trees, yummy atmospheric stuff and great percussive sounds. (i think i added the vibraphone and the acoustic bass, that's it?) a wintry mood was on our minds to set the scene. the file was passed back and forth many times as we wrote more and more new sections, iterated upon them (mandra is VERY good at this), organized and re-organized everything. it was extremely fun to work on and i'm glad to have had such a cool collab opportunity!

moreso than most collabs i think, we really shared duties of all the different parts... some melodies and solos are theirs, some are mine; same for drums, chords, pads, arpeggios, and even all the awesome pattern loop glitchies. i would say we were pretty in sync on all that stuff this time, which could be the result of having worked together a few times but that made the collab all the more fulfilling. really i think my favorite part of working with mandra is that they are not afraid to cut and/or heavily change content if it needs doing. and i think they have a killer sense of when that is necessary. mad respect for that, trying to take something from it myself

i think i may have made this one of the least "gentle" songs on the whole Snowdrop setlist lolol, but this is how i am. regardless, i'm happy many folks seemed to enjoy it, and the festival was a wonderful, extremely positive event : ) thanks for listening, everyone!
