daily song time is upon us... today's installment is a real special one!

<-- the previous day's song | the next day's song -->

today's song is: Inútil Paisagem, a cover of the classic Jobim tune (specifically the recording with Elis Regina) for the SNES's soundchip SPC700

this was my entry last year for Super Famicompo 3's covers category. i chose one of my favoritest songs of all time and had a delightful time transcribing it (i think i've used that crazy circle of fifths motion of the 7#9->dom13 a hundred times on my own since then). it was the first time i ever used the ROM export on C700 and i only did it because i didn't want to spend ages trimming it down to .spc - in hindsight i could've used nicer samples because of all the extra space, but i wasn't thinking about that and the process was new to me. i was happy to use the chrono trigger pianos anyway, and i spent some time auditioning sounds other than "cute saw wave" but eventually just settled into "cute saw wave is the best after all".

this is a 1:1 transcription, i even loaded in the original audio side-by-side to get all the notes lined up perfectly with the original. it's on brand for me, extremely rubato :o)
