✨ We all have our own tastes, though there's some amount of overlap! Maybe unsurprisingly, we all really like electroswing and metalswing. Me and Alex especially, since we like anything we can REALLY move our body to!
🎙️ Parov Stelar, Electric Swing Circus, Diablo Swing Orchestra, and obviously Caravan Palace are big winners in that circle for us.
🔔 Heavy metal is also a consistent positive for us. Particularly speed metal and thrash metal, most prominently groups like Pantera, Judas Priest, Venom, Gamma Ray, X Japan, early-middle-era Metallica, Racer X, Zakk Wylde, and Outrage. Recently we've also become enormous fans of Polyphia.
🎙️ Oh, and prog rock! King Crimson, Tool, Electric Light Orchestra, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and more recently King Gizz, are all major faves.
🔔 As far as individual tastes, I tend to favor hip-hop. Some of my favorites include Jay-Z, Eminem, Eric B. and Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Missy Elliot, Busdriver, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, Outkast, Childish Gambino, Busta Rhymes, Nujabes, and DJ Okawari. I've always had an affinity for the focus on lyrical flow and bombastic displays of personality.
✨ I'm all about new wave, all the really quirky synth-heavy styff! Polysics, Oingo Boingo, Depeche Mode, XTC, Talking Heads, I'm a BIG fan. Oooh, and ska. Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish were major features of our teenage years! I just like stuff I can bop around to, stuff that feels as weird and off-kilter as me. Oingo Boingo is prrrrrrrrrobably one of my favorite acts of all time.
🎙️ I'm all about noise pop and hyperpop, but also just punk and alt-rock in general. The noisier and more chaotic the better! Some of my faves include Sleigh Bells, 100 gecs, Sonic Youth, Flaming Lips, Kero Kero Bonito, Bad Religion, NOFX, Pixies, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club just to name a few. Oh and like, I self-admittedly also have a soft spot for 90s R&B, especially the really jazzy stuff. Full Force, Tevin Campbell, TLC, Jodeci, Blackstreet, Mark Morrison, and Bell Biv Devoe in particular. Anything I can groove to or has that rawness of someone just letting it all hang out gets me hard.
