Alex Heany has been making strange music for a long time, I've been following his stuff on Bandcamp for almost a decade at this point, back when the band was called Essential Hughes. Some of my all time favorite songs are in EPs that don't even exist anymore. Thankfully I have all the MP3s, I would love to put them online some time.

i dont know why as a music project he seems to want to sound Old, but he does it in ways that are not typically associated positively with nostalgia throwback. It's definitely working around Movements that are into tape, VHS, static, lo-fi, other noise-y physical media etc but a lot of those people are looking at and transforming old original sources, not making music in the style of a like, a minor 70s/80s pop hit

anyway here's a song from an incomplete rerelease of some old stuff that i love. it's i think one of the greatest songs ever made https://essentialforever.bandcamp.com/track/mens-hair

i posted all this to twitter already but i dont feel bad about it
