i had forgotten about the Fritz Leiber book Conjure Wife and now that i have been reminded i am not gonna be able to stop thinking about what a funny title "Conjure Wife" is.
i just watched the film adaptation of it a few days back! they did not keep the title tho :( - Night of the Eagle in the UK; Burn, Witch, Burn! in the US
pretty good, well shot and performed. the US release opens with some narration that's like "the movie yr about to watch is cursed af, im gonna cast a spell to protect you from evil spirits that might radiate out" which is great. that said while i expected a certain amount of conservatism from sixties british horror the 'student bewitched by malicious forces into falsely accusing her professor of rape' bit caught me off guard (although it falls by the wayside quicker than you'd expect)
