I really respect how much of a communist Guthrie was at a time when that was not an okay thing to be and you'd get prosecuted for it. I think I ended up hearing about this quote because Chumbawamba printed it on the insert of their last album, ABCDEFG (which is the picture used, taken from discogs), Chumbawamba really got what folk music was about, being leftists and saying fuck people who gatekeep music and I appreciate that a lot about them too.
