so i've been thinking about Luke Gearing's Inhuman Violence rules, and particularly the escalating dice for the zombies described in this post, as the baseline rules for players to play mercenary companies in a campaign season (or similar larger scale combat/survival for that matter, could be like mad max wasteland gangs or pirate crews or whatever, but without going to full wargame rules scope). i think it'd be a fun thing to do - multiple uneasily aligned companies co-existing on the battlefield over a campaign season, trying to last til they get paid and take some extra stuff along the way, maybe some fun variety in what different companies do under different amounts of damage and duress if players want character-class-style differentiation (and would give me a chance to write some fun prose about the dissolution/failure of formal command structures under stress).
