sort of funny how much new media stuff consists of literalized thought experiments, like machine learning hype things acting out charmless variants on old surrealist bits from 1930.. or the way reading involves acts of interpretation that you can reductively cast as "choices", the choice to read in this or that way, where the text might anticipate and play with those choices (is the advice in The Lesson of the Master sincerely meant? is it suspicious that this character in a mystery novel seems to have no reason for being in the plot?) or just generally become alive thru uncertainty of emphasis like in a poem.. it's very funny that vgames involve the same kind of perceptual interpretation as any other format but they also involve managing the weird gimmick version of it that's functionally just one of those branching phone systems where you push 1 if you already have an appointment.
